ENF Announces Wild Flower Hike
Apple River, IL) At 10:00 am on May 17, 2014 the Eagle Nature Foundation (ENF) is planning to conduct the first of its monthly 2 hour wildflower/plant hikes through the Apple Creek Prairie and Woods to identify and document the many plants and wildflowers, which may be found on the property at that time. Each month different wildflowers will be blooming, and blooming time is the best time to identify the exact species which are present, so each month ENF will sponsor a wildflower/plant hike through the area.
In just a few years Apple Creek Woods and Prairie may be available for purchase by ENF, or some other conservation organization, to preserve the area in its natural state. This is just one of the many planned activities to document what unique plants and animals live and make their home somewhere on the property.
Participants should bring their own wildflower and plant field guides for identification as well as their own hand lenses to look at the various details of the different wildflowers which may be found. The weather is unpredictable, so be dressed for whatever the weather. The Apple Creek prairie and woods are located at 8384 North Broadway, Apple River, IL, just one half mile south of Stagecoach Trail.
There will be no charge to participate, but donations will be accepted to help cover the costs for this event.
