First Shipment of Plants

Apple River) The Eagle Nature Foundation has just received its first load of 500+ trees, shrubs, and perennials for the year of 2013 and has almost 150 varieties available for public inspection at its headquarters at 300 East Hickory Street, right on Stagecoach Trail at the East edge of Apple River.

These plants came courtesy of Beaver Creek Nursery, near Popular Grove, IL. The plants may be examined during daylight hours any day of the week, and are on a self serve basis. The price for each variety of plants is marked on the identification sign by each plant. An envelope is located on the porch with sheets containing further descriptions of all the plants that are presently in the yard. Money for any plants that are taken should be put in the money box on the porch.

The money from these plants is used by ENF for its work to save the bald eagle. At the present time the bald eagle population appears to be reproducing back at the same level that it was in the 1960’s. ENF is the main organization in the nation that is working to determine what may be affecting the bald eagle reproduction, but needs money to carry out this effort. An extra donation for this cause may be left in the money box, when checking out, or picking up any plants. ENF is an environmental 501(c)3 organization, so any money donated may be considered tax exempt on a person ‘s taxes.

For any questions about the plants, call 815-594-2306.
