Eagle Nature Foundation’s Summer Plants

Apple River, IL) The Eagle Nature Foundation has just received their shipment of summer blooming plants for local people to use to beautify their yards and homes. All of the income that ENF receives from these plants helps to cover the operating costs of its efforts to monitor the population and preserve habitat for our National Symbol, the bald eagle. The plants have been donated from Beaver Creek and Song Sparrow Nurseries, compliments of Roy and Sarah Klehm, owners, who have been great supporters of ENF for the past several decades.

At present the Eagle Nature Foundation has over 500 plants of more than 140 varieties from which a person can choose. This includes: 12 different varieties of Day-Lilies; 10 different varieties of Viburnums; 7 different Peonies; 7 Hosta, including the big leafed variety; 6 different Lilacs, including the Bloomerang; 6 Hydrangea; 6 Roses; 5 Spirea; 4 Weigela; 4 Dogwoods; 4 Holly; 3 Sedum as well as many, many more species and varieties. Many of the varieties are unique and may not be found in any other plant sale locations.

If a person is interested in a particular species and/or variety they may call the office 815-594-2306 to see if we have it on hand. All plants are available on the honor system. Anyone may come in during daylight hours to inspect the plants that are available. The price for each plant is marked on a sign by the plant, or on the information sheet, which is in an envelope on the porch near the money box, in which a proper check or cash is to be placed before removing the plants.
