IBED School Contest Winners Announced

Apple River) Terrence N. Ingram, Executive Director of the Eagle Nature Foundation (ENF) has announced the finalists in the School Bald Eagle Essay and Nature Art Contests which are being conducted as part of the International Bald Eagle Days (IBED) in Rochester, MN on Oct. 26-28, 2012.

The local finalist in the High School Division of the Nature Art Contest is Greg Wirchnianski from Eastland High School in Lanark, IL. His art teacher is Mrs. Matheson. As a finalist Mr. Wirchnianski, is eligible for first place with $100 and a trophy. If he should become the winner the school will also receive $50 and a plaque. The awards will be presented during the award ceremony that is part of the IBED Saturday evening banquet at the Ramada in Rochester, MN.

Finalists in the High School Division of the Bald Eagle Essay Contest are Holly Husband, Goodhue Public School, Goodhue, MN and Alexis Rainey, Pacific High School, Pacific, MO. These finalists who must orally present their essays at the banquet are also eligible to receive a first place of $100 and a trophy or second place with $50, with the winning school receiving a plaque and $50.

The public is invited to the banquet. Tickets for the banquet must be reserved before that day by calling ENF, 815-594-2306. The banquet speaker is Stan Tekiela, well known naturalist, author, speaker and writer from Victoria, MN. For more information go to ENF’s website, eaglenature.com.
